Class of 2007

June 17, 2007

This week, my baby sister graduated from high school, and Miranda graduated from UCLA.  So, I got to go to TWO graduations: FHS and UCLA.

UCLA’s was indoors at Royce Hall.  Kel’s was in the evening.  THEREFORE, I had no sunburns from graduations this year!  HURRAH!!!!

So, here are some lovely photos to commemorate this week.

Weekend

June 11, 2007

<sigh>

My back hurts right now. Must’ve slept on it funny.

This weekend was pretty relaxing. Just sat around. I finally started on my sister’s graduation present. Dickson and I washed our cars and installed some new black Saturn logos on them. Then we were going to go to Santiago Canyon College to take some photos of the cars (they have some impressive new buildings), but they gated up the parking area now! So we had to settle w/ ho-hum FHS:

While we were there, we saw this guy walk buy with a backpack and his iPod. He jumped the school gate, and jumped back out a few minutes later. I wouldn’t blame him…who would want to go to be at school on a Sunday? He also was wearing Skinny Jeans. Yes, more proof that I think those jeans are a fashion disaster in the making.

You can’t really see Penny’s tint in these photos…I’ll have to get a better picture of that some time. It turned out really pretty, and it does wonders for the internal car temperature.

This week’s been kinda slow on projects, probably because I’ve been lazy. It should probably ramp up soon. The other day, we were just walking around Irvine Spectrum and we went into Urban Outfitters. Way off hidden in a corner, I found a HUGE stack of Amy Butler’s In Stitches. For $15. Sweet! Okay, only a couple bucks cheaper than Amazon, but INSTANT GRATIFICATION. It’s going into the project queue. Hahaha….

To conclude, here’s some photos of us:

I should cut my hair.

CDs and other Misc. Stuff

June 5, 2007

So today…I tried to sew a headband. But, I made it too small and it won’t go over my head. Better luck tomorrow I guess.

We’ve been a bit behind on buying CDs, but we did end up buying and old Dave Matthews Band CD: Crash. So far it’s pretty good…I remember Dickson said it was a good CD, so since we saw it on sale at Target for $10, we decided to buy it. Last week. Better late than never hehe.

So the last CDs we bought turned out pretty good. I love love love Super Colossal, and Dickson’s always listening to Ulrich Schnass, and I actually like the first Ray Lamontange CD better than his second one. I think the only CD I haven’t really given a good chance to listen to was my Steve Reich CD. But that was mostly because the first track actually made my head hurt. Not because it was bad…it was very rhythmical. Something to do with the pitch or the frequency of the beat or something that actually caused my head to hurt when I listen to it. It’s like having someone literally drumming in your head. BUT, once it gets beyond that part, my head calms down lol.

But I think 4 CDs in a month is a bit overwhelming hehe.

Anyway, so Cousin, this next part is mostly for you about that purse I mentioned in my random facts post.

So in early April, I was in SD with Dickson and we went to the Carlsbad outlet to do some shopping. We wandered into Dooney and Bourke, and Dickson found this really really cute purse:

It’s from Dooney and Bourke’s Alto Collection. I simply refer to it as Dooney. After outlet pricing and it was on sale for 20% off, Dooney ended up being only a mere $100. She’s natural leather, and lined with a red felt/flannel like fabric on the inside.

Turns out, she retails for $245. I love the bottom of the purse. There are 4 metal nubbs, so when you put the purse down on a desk, the leather part of the bottom of the purse doesn’t actually touch the surface. And, on the side, there are two metal nubbs that are like buttons that hold the zipper down. Each nubb is 2 pieces and screw together. It’s really cool. Someone was definitely thinking when they designed this.

Oh, and a question for all you wonderful sewers out there…I found a Butterick pattern for a dress I want to make, but it looks like it requires 60″ fabric, not 45″. Is there anyway I can use 45″ instead? I don’t like using 60″ cause there’s always less selection…

Oh, and on another miscellaneous note, Monday we had Penny’s windows tinted. Pictures to come soon, hopefully…

Tag!

June 2, 2007

Cousin tagged me to do this “list 7 random facts about you and then tag 7 people to do it too” thing. So, I’m gonna try my best. I don’t have 7 people though…

1) I eat my sandwiches/burgers upside down. That is, in the case of a burger or sub, if you were watching me eat, you’d see the bottom side of the bun/bread.

2) I actually bought myself a $100 purse.

3) I own an old iMac Flower Power G3. She’s awesome! Dickson bought her off of Craigslist and fixed her up for me :)

4) I have a scar on my right foot from tripping while eying a pretty blue Mini Cooper at school.

5) My only Digital Comm book I own is actually sitting on my dad’s bookshelf at work and has consequently been added to his collection of multiple Digital Comm books.

6) When I was little, I ate butter and jelly sandwiches. I don’t care what you think, it was delicious!

7) I can sometimes make (occasionally, it’s unwillingly) whatever joint is is near my sternum/ribs crack.

KELLYANN, you’re tagged! I’ll try to think of more in the mean time…
