Mom’s Christmas Present

December 27, 2007

With Christmas come and gone, I finally have pictures of my mom’s gift that I made. I only made two things this winter for gifts–the following for my mom, and also something for my sister’s birthday, but that hasn’t past yet, so that will be blogged at a later date :)

So, with the Christmas deadline nearing, I was scrambling to finish Mom’s stuff. But, I made it in time…so here it is!

Christmastime

December 24, 2007

A couple weeks ago, Dickson and I were sitting in traffic on our way home from USC, when suddenly he said to me, “Hm, I just figured out your Christmas present.” Every Christmas, the hunt for gifts begins around Thanksgiving. Some people are easy to shop for, some are not. Sometimes, ideas just hit me like a bolt of lightening.

For example. My mom. I knew way back when I posted this post what I was making for my mom. Being the procrastinator I am, I finally finished today! Here’s a sneak peek (more photos to come after Mom opens the gift:

I’m super excited for it.

Some fun games

December 24, 2007

Wheeee, I love this game. Good for playing while you’re waiting for that last lazy family member to get up so you can open Christmas presents. This one isn’t too bad either.

Enjoy :) Time to finish up Christmas presents!

A red bag for me!

December 20, 2007

Before my trip to Vegas, I whipped up a small purse to go with my fancy dinner outfit. Whipped up PROBABLY isn’t the exact wording I should use, as I managed to pick frustrating fabrics that couldn’t really be ironed, and I was eventually reminded of how I need a sewing machine that can sew through more than just a few layers of fabric and interfacing. Funny how I seem to keep running into that problem. The solution is always, to not use the machine and use my hand instead. Anyway, so here is the result:

Pleated Purse with Darts

It’s the Pleated Purse with Darts from Lisa of UHandbag’s tutorial. I should’ve known by reading the instructions that I’d be cussing at the bag (think pleats), and it didn’t help I was on a timeline, and the fabric issue that I mentioned above…

Viva Las Vegas

December 19, 2007

We’re back from Vegas. And I STILL have that Elvis song stuck in my head….I’ve been singing it ever since I heard it while watching the Bellagio Fountain show.

We went to three places during our trip. Stop #1: The Strip.

The Strip is bright, busy, loud, and in general obnoxious. Aside from the constant dings from the slot machines and shuffling of cards and smell of cigarettes and cigars, it’s quite the sight to see. We stayed at the MGM Grand, on the 27th floor (there’s 29 floors total)! That’s 2 floors from the top! The elevator ride wasn’t too bad.

There are SO many pictures, so I’ll just highlight a few of my favorites. The rest can easily be found in a set on my Flickr.
