Why Mommy?

February 27, 2008

I think this face is appropriate for today:

This is Paisley loafing around and asking me a few things just by looking at me.  First, she’s asking me why I normally cover up the beautiful maroon carpet she loves.  Usually, it’s because I set up a bed on the floor.  And, I guess by covering it up, Paisley can’t scratch at the carpet.  She loves that for some reason.  Yeah I have no clue either.

Secondly, she’s asking me why I don’t finish my homework earlier.  Well Paise, that’s because I’m lazy and I don’t start till Monday.  Maybe I should start starting earlier so I can nap in the library on Mondays instead.

Thirdly, she’s wondering how the hell I managed to walk into a speed limit sign today after lunch.  I have this mark down the length of my upper arm from walking into a sign attached to a traffic-light pole.  yeah, not smart.  That’ll leave a bruise.  At least I didn’t hit my head.  And I guess it’s okay since I was laughing while in pain.  What a torn feeling…being in pain and laughing at my stupidity.

And lastly, she’s wondering why I’m blogging and not petting her.  I guess I’ll go pet the princess now.

Button Scarf Done!

February 24, 2008

Wowie I’m on a roll this weekend! My cousin convinced me to join Finny and Donk’s Sewing Adventure, so here’s my button scarf!

I decided to make it two sided, so this is the first side. I found a washable wool herringbone fabric on Ebay, and I was SUPER excited. I also found some plum colored cashmere bits (11×14″ each sheet only!), and decided I’d make it work. More on the cashmere in a minute.

AB Inspired Bag — It’s done!

February 23, 2008

Remember this?

Well, I finally finished it! Lately between all my little projects, I’ve been trying to get this bag done. It’s my submission for the Amy Butler Sew Inspiring Contest my cousin so kindly told me about. So, before I talk about the nitty gritty details, here it is!!!!

So, the main fabric is Amy Butler’s Lotus in slate. The black stuff you see wrapping around the bag is a used bike inner tube. The zipper is just a jean zipper I picked up at Joann’s. How the heck did I come up with this?

Trader Joe’s Book Tote

February 17, 2008

Dickson goes with me to USC whenever he’s around and I have to go to school. Most often on Mondays. Mondays I have a really long day, so we both bring work/books/laptops and park it in the library after lunch until pretty late in the evening.

So, a couple weeks ago, Dickson asked me if I could make him a tote bag to bring his books. Actually, he first asked me if I HAD a tote bag he could use. I only had the purple and linen one my cousin made my from our swap. Obviously he wasn’t up to rockin’ the purple, so we used an old USC bookstore bag for the day. I told him I’d make him a bag soon. Just for him. So here it is:

Valentine’s Day Fun

February 15, 2008

Hope everyone had a fantastic Valentine’s Day. Ours was great! Here’s what we did:
1) Buy fresh English Toffee Apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
2) Call restaurant to order to-go food.
3) Eat apple. Smile. Share some bites with Dickson occasionally (okay, okay, I gave him about half, really!)
4) Sit in bookstore because food will take an hour, even for pick up! Find crafty magazines (well, Dickson went for car magazines instead) and indulge.
5) Pick up food (the new Indiana Jones movie coming out May 22…tonight we’re watching Temple of Doom).

YAY! Oh, and sorry the photo’s not too great…we had to use my camera phone. And I forgot to take a picture of it BEFORE I started eating… :-D
