Easy Peasy Cowl

By Kristine Tsai

Made myself a cowl today.  I’m kinda tired of wrapping my scarves around and being worried about them falling off, or worse being choked to death while wearing one.

I found the pattern on Ravelry, but it’s available off-Ravelry, too.  I made it while watching Serendipity.  I used one of my skeins of Cascade Dolce.  I originally bought it to make a hat, but I couldn’t find a hat that would really show off the yarn (or one that I wasn’t sick of making).  So I turned to scarves, but I guess nothing really appealed to me either.  So eventually I settled on a cowl.  I always thought cowls were for either old people or outdoorsy people, but I guess not anymore!  Either that or I’m becoming old and outdoorsy……..

Nah. :)

Anyway, so the yarn is SUPER soft.  I loooove alpaca.  It’s actually a wool/silk/alpaca blend.  So nice.  Although, the wool aspect makes it a BIT itchy.  The hat I made my mom was 100% alpaca, and THAT is soft.  And, I haven’t heard any itch complaints from her (yes, she wears it!)

I got a package from Amazon today.  Nevermind what came in it, but I think the top and bottom panels of the box might be just the right side for refolding my fabric!!!  HURRAH!  Hopefully I’ll be able to refold things quickly!

Lovely pattern for your cowl. Mom’s hat is darling. Alpaca sounds heavenly.

Gorgeous! I must say that I prefer knitting over crocheting, but once I’m done with both of my blankets, I may have to make myself a cowl!

Cute! I’ve never seen a crocheted one before.
